Hanging on...

Up at the crack of dawn this morning "06:00" to capture the light which us photographers wish for every day - Again I was joined by Chris and our main destination was Externsteine, not the first visit and nor the last. I want to take the time to process my shot's of the famous stone creations but first I wanted to share this photo I took at Silbermüle "Forest Hotel" such an interesting location that my family visit on many occasions during the summer months and also the beer tastes good :)

On this day it was around -13 extremely cold and extremely important to keep on moving, difficult when taking long exposures and difficult when standing in a stream with just walking boots on, oh and of course clothes! I'm not a soft person by far but today the cold weather had the better of me, after a good 3 hours both my finger tips and toes knew it was too cold to stay out any longer! we sacked it after 3 hours! on the go since 07:00....

For this shot I used the Lee Big Stopper only the second time I have used it but after seeing the results from today I want to use it more and more - a worthy investment I must say...

The bridge at the top of the frame is less than interesting so I kept the upper parts away from the main image but hopefully cropped it enough to complete the composition, I would normally de-clutter the area but to dam cold!.. worthy of a second visit but next time with wellington boots!
